At The Pride Center of Maryland, the Elder Services program continues to create affirming spaces where older LGBTQ/SGL* adults are seen, valued, and supported. Through intentional programming focused on wellness, social connection, advocacy, and community engagement, the program works to reduce isolation while uplifting the voices and experiences of Black LGBTQ/SGL* elders in Baltimore.
One of the most impactful and celebrated initiatives within the program is the Silver Circle Tea Dance. More than just a social event, the Tea Dance serves as an intergenerational gathering rooted in joy, culture, music, and community healing. It creates opportunities for older adults to reconnect, socialize, dance, and build meaningful relationships in a safe and affirming environment. The event also bridges generations by welcoming younger community members to honor and learn from LGBTQ elders whose stories and resilience paved the way for future generations.
The Elder Services program is grounded in culturally responsive care and community-centered support, offering resources that promote healthy aging, wellness, and dignity. From outreach and advocacy to social programming and partnerships, the work reflects PCOM's commitment to addressing the unique needs of LGBTQ/SGL* older adults.
As the program continues to grow, initiatives like the Silver Circle Tea Dances remind us that aging within community is powerful. Through celebration, connection, and visibility, PCOM is helping ensure that our elders are not forgotten, but honored, supported, and celebrated.
